`searchWells`	NY oil/gas/storage/brine/CBM/geothermal wells (~47.4K). Filter county, operator (COMPANY_NAME), generalWellType (Oil Well/Gas Well/Storage Well/Brine Well/Geothermal Well), wellTypeCode (OD/GD/IW/DW/etc.), generalWellStatus (Unplugged/Plugged), slant, formation, town, bbox/near.
`searchMines`	NY surface mining permits (~6.1K). Filter county, commodity (Sand and Gravel/Bluestone/Clay/Limestone/Salt/Zinc), status code (A/R/N/T/P), permittee, town, bbox/near.
`getWellByApi`	Single well lookup by API_WELLNO (14-digit, NY uses 31-prefix per AAPG convention). Returns LINK to public DEC portal.
`getMineById`	Single mine lookup by MINEID (DEC permit identifier).
`getServiceInfo`	Schema, record counts (live), max-page caps, enum values for every filter, and §0 probe notes for both layers.

About

New York Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) Division of Mineral Resources oil and gas wells plus surface mining permits, both exposed via the agency host data. Two layers: layer 1 with about 47,390 wells (oil/gas/storage/brine/CBM/geothermal/stratigraphic); layer 0 with about 6,145 surface mining permits. NY environmental data is folded into this connector per the Batch L plan, since DEC handles both well regulation and mineral mining permits. WELL_TYPE and WELL_STATUS are 2-letter codes (OD oil-development 17,865; GD gas-development 10,056; IW injection 4,502; DW disposal 1,695; PA plugged-abandoned 20,543; AC active 11,782); GENERALWELLTYPE and GENERALWELLSTATUS provide human-readable rollups (Oil Well 18,003; Gas Well 10,896; Storage Well 1,132; Brine Well 766; Geothermal Well 128). Top well counties: Allegany 16,397 (35%); Cattaraugus 11,934; Chautauqua 6,367; Erie 3,504. Mines COMMODITY values are stored space-padded fixed-width, so the handler trims (Sand and Gravel 4,919 = 80% of permits; Bluestone 243; Clay 238; Topsoil 168; Limestone 129; Salt 4; Zinc 4; Wollastonite 4; Talc 3). Mines INITDATE/ISSUEDATE/ENDDATE are stored as MM/DD/YYYY strings (not epoch ms like wells), so the handler converts to ISO yyyy-mm-dd. Every well record includes a LINK to the agency host GasOil portal. Last verified live 2026-05-07.
