Setup
A few steps to connect your AI agents to Ignition SCADA.
- 1
Create a read-only security level
In the gateway, open Platform > Security > Levels and add a level under Authenticated, for example PatchOpsRead. Then open Security > General Settings and tick that level under Read permissions. Leave Write permissions as Administrator.
- 2
Create an API key and add it in /mcp
Open Platform > Security > API Keys, create a Basic Token key, and give it only the PatchOpsRead level. Copy the key (it is shown once), then open the Ignition card in /mcp and enter your gateway's HTTPS address and the key.
- 3
Connect Your AI Agent
Copy the MCP URL from /mcp into Claude, ChatGPT, or another MCP client.
- 4
Start Querying
Begin asking your AI agent questions about your Ignition SCADA data.
